The Lead Blood Center Collections Tech is responsible for a variety of clinical and clerical functions to support the day-to-day operation of Donor Services. Clinical duties include drawing blood from volunteer blood donors, interacting with prospective donors, providing information about blood donation, screening donors by conducting a mini-physical and medical history interview, drawing blood according to specific procedures, administering post-donation care, and working with nursing staff to provide appropriate care for donors who may experience reactions during or following their donation. Completes detailed documents and records pertaining to the donation. Drives blood mobile to blood drives and maintains appropriate vehicle logs. Clerical duties include phone reception, printing reports, operation of office equipment such as fax machines and printers, in addition to basic computer skills in the blood bank information system.
