Job Summary

This position is a key member of the Research and Strategic Analytics team in the Strategy and Innovation Division and provides research and analysis for a full range of health strategic system planning and due diligence initiatives. This position works collaboratively with senior leadership, service line leaders, and other key stakeholders to provide objective analysis, guidance, and direction on current and future growth trends to deliver recommendations in support of Lee Healths strategy. The Senior Planning Analyst manages sub process and deliverables within our system-level strategic planning process and annual action planning. Research and analysis responsibilities include utilization trends, forecasting and modeling, market demographics, consumer research, and market share. Additionally, this position monitors local market competitors and environment to develop strategies to counteract movements. This position will have a hybrid schedule.

Job Specifications/Responsibilities

Develops, interprets and presents comprehensive analyses and reports using internal and external quantitative and qualitative data. Access, organize and maintain substantial amounts of data and information from a variety of sources and estimate the impact of different scenarios. Be proficient in synthesizing the information in key points of interest to facilitate decision making for system leadership and service line leaders. Has a solid understanding of business statistics and forecasting.

Development of annual volume projections for assigned departments as well as market feasibility due diligence for any new or expanding services.

Researches, obtains and analyzes external sources of data regarding the local and regional market place for purposes of developing environmental assessments and competitive landscape. Collaborates with Strategy & Innovation team colleagues to develop and present strategic analyses (e.g., STEEPV, PESTLE) and competitive assessments that inform opportunities to pursue. Scans and reports on legislative, payer, market, competitive and industry changes that may impact strategies, programs and initiatives.

Contributes to the design, implementation and continuous improvement of our strategic planning process (SPP). Manages the quality and timeliness of assigned deliverables along the full SPP lifecycle (e.g. strategic analyses, strategic plan, action plans and quarterly reviews).

Coordinates system-wide strategic planning work sessions with System staff, including clinical, administrative, and corporate staff/leaders to gather inputs on core competencies, strategic advantages, strategic challenges, and strategic opportunities to pursue.

Develop and analyze market share for inpatient and outpatient services utilizing variety of sources, including claims data to drive business planning decisions. Remains abreast of trends in strategic planning, the market, and the broader health care industry. The completed work shows evidence of error and reasonableness verification, thereby improving the accuracy. The employee deals with obstacles that arise in the process. and demonstrates ownership of process.

Develops provider needs analysis and medical staff development planning analyses. Maintain databases on provider and ancillary supply to understand organizations positioning.

Responds to ad hoc requests for information with accurate data in a timely manner.

Other Requirements/Skills & Competencies:

Practical experience in research and strategy analysis for health systems, such as competitive intelligence, forecasting activity, and analytical processes that drive actionable decision-making.

Form relationships across all levels to support client needs to understand business issues and recommend an appropriate researchable solution to support business development and strategic planning

Strong analytical skills to transform and interpret data into a concise, meaningful product for the end client. Ability to make actionable recommendations that provide insights needed to implement new programs or processes based on the research results.

Strong communication and storytelling skills to succinctly present market insights, both written and verbally.

Expert use in Excel, Access, Maptitude and other business intelligence software (Qlik, PowerBI). Strong data visualization and storytelling skills.

Education and Experience Requirements:

Bachelors degree in health administration, business, economics or finance is required. Masters degree in relevant field preferred.

3 - 5 years analytical experience including 1 - 5 years planning, consulting, financial, or decision support experience in the healthcare environment.
