Position Summary:
The Supervisor of Vascular Access is responsible for overseeing and managing the daily operations of the vascular access team within the hospital. This role ensures the delivery of safe, high-quality patient care by directing and supporting clinical staff in accordance with established nursing standards, organizational policies, and regulatory guidelines. The Supervisor promotes evidence-based practices, fosters a collaborative environment, and drives continuous improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes.
Reporting Structure: This role collaborates with another supervisor, working Monday through Friday on 8-hour shifts, with an average start time of 8 AM (flexible based on department needs).
Coverage: The system has two VAN supervisorsone is based at Gulf Coast Medical Center, while this supervisor oversees HealthPark, Lee Memorial Hospital, and Cape Coral Hospital. The two supervisors provide mutual support and coverage.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Operations:
- Directs and coordinates the activities of the vascular access team, ensuring appropriate staffing, scheduling, and resource allocation.Provides real-time support and guidance to clinical staff during complex or difficult vascular access procedures.Ensures adherence to hospital policies, nursing standards, and compliance with the Florida Nurse Practice Act.Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams, including physicians, nursing staff, and quality specialists, to optimize vascular access care.

Qualifications:
Education: Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing. BS degree preferred.
Experience:
- Previous experience in nursing leadership, preferably in vascular access or a related specialty. Preferred but not required. Proficiency in advanced vascular access procedures, including ultrasound-guided insertions. PICC line proficiency.

- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Florida.Certification in Vascular Access (VA-BC) or related specialty preferred. Certification required within the first two years of assuming the leadership role.
