During the first two months of employment, the individual in this role will train across both Lee Memorial Hospital and Cape Coral Hospital as part of their orientation. The training period may be extended as needed to ensure the individual feels confident and well-prepared to independently lead operations in the Bronchoscopy Suite at Cape Coral Hospital.
The Bronchoscopy Suite at Cape Coral Hospital is currently under renovation as part of Cape Coral Hospitals expansion. Due to the renovation, the individual in this role will be expected to support both bronchoscopy procedures and general Respiratory Therapy services during renovations as we currently do not have the volumes for a full bronchoscopy case load. However, once renovations are completed (anticipated by the end of 2025), the role will transition to focus exclusively on bronchoscopies.

Summary
As a Registered Respiratory Therapist Bronchoscopy, you will administer all therapeutic, diagnostic, and mechanical modalities under the purview of Respiratory Care Services, for which the Therapist has demonstrated appropriate proficiency, and has been documented as competent to perform these procedures. All of the criteria-based duties within this document will be performed according to established policies, procedures and guidelines within the department and the hospital. Responsibility for the delivery of Respiratory Care to patients of all age groups, to include all therapeutic treatments, oxygen therapy, arterial blood gas draws and analysis, ventilator management, and airway management to include intubation. May perform assessment of staff blood gas competencies if qualified as a Technical Consultant. The therapist with primary Bronchoscopy duties will perform therapeutic and diagnostic bronchoscopy procedures for both inpatients and outpatients. This therapist is responsible for assuring that procedures scheduled by the OR/ Endoscopy departments are performed in a timely manner in accordance with the Pulmonary physician and Endoscopy staff schedules. Remains knowledgeable about all equipment, modalities, protocols and decontamination procedures utilized in the Bronchoscopy Lab and may provide training and competency assessment for staff performing bronchoscopy in the ICUs.

Experience Requirements:None ; New graduates of accredited COARC respiratory therapy program accepted
State of Florida Licensure Requirements:Registered Respiratory Therapist License
Certifications/Registration Requirements:Credentialed by the National Board for Respiratory Care as an RRT ; BLS required ; ACLS, PALS, and NRP required as appropriate to population served and must beobtained within 6 months of hire where needed.
