The PRN Faith Community Nurse (FCN) serves as a liaison between the health care system, faith communities, and the community at large, and offers a unique association between faith and health. This nurse provides education focusing on health promotion, outreach to both underserved/homeless populations as well as other communities, and offers confidential holistic health counseling. The FCN uses knowledge of a populations demographic information, values, belief systems, and cultural diversity for the provision of educational resources. The FCN is responsible for directing and coordinating education and outreach efforts into the community based on established Faith Community Nurse Practice Standards subscribed to by the American Nursing Association and the in accordance with the Florida Nurse Practice Act.
Education: Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing required. Bachelors preferred. Basic Faith Community Parish Nurse Course (or attend within one year).
Experience: Minimum of 3 years of clinical or community nursing experience required.
Certification: BLS (American Heart Association / Basic Life Support) required.
License: Currently licensed or eligible for RN licensure in the State of Florida
Other: Communication and interpersonal skills, basic computer skills, and customer service skills. Membership with a local faith community also required.
