The Vascular Sonographer Level 1 is responsible for performing high-quality, diagnostic vascular ultrasound procedures in both fixed and mobile settings, following established policies and protocols of the Lee Health Cardiovascular Department. This role supports providers by conducting a wide range of vascular exams and plays a key role in delivering accurate, timely diagnostic information that supports optimal patient care.
New graduates are expected to obtain vascular ultrasound registry (RVT or RVS) within six months of hire. The sonographer collaborates closely with physicians, clinical staff, and external partners to ensure safe and effective testing.
Perform vascular ultrasound studies including, but not limited to:
Carotid duplex
Venous and arterial duplex
Abdominal visceral vascular studies
Hemodialysis access evaluations
Physiological testing (e.g., ABI, segmental pressures)
Assist vascular surgeons during procedures such as Endovenous Laser Therapy (EVLT)
Ensure proper documentation, image quality, and patient preparation in accordance with department protocols
Maintain equipment and troubleshoot minor issues as needed
Demonstrate general computer proficiency to support image processing, documentation, and communication
Communicate effectively with providers and staff regarding imaging needs and patient care
Promote a positive patient and team experience by providing courteous, compassionate, and professional care
Transport non-narcotic medications as directed, following safety and handling protocols
Participate in quality improvement and performance initiatives to support department goals
Education:
Graduate of an accredited vascular ultrasound program
Certification:
Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) or Registered Vascular Specialist (RVS) required within 6 months of hire
BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
Experience:
Experience in vascular ultrasound preferred; new graduates with appropriate clinical training may be considered
Skills:
Proficiency in a full range of vascular testing procedures
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Basic computer and electronic medical record (EMR) skills

RequirementsEducation:Graduated from accredited or ARRT approved ultrasound program.
Experience:6 months of clinical experience in vascular ultrasound preferred.
Certification:BLS (American Heart Association/Basic Life Support) required. Registered with American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers in Vascular Technology (RVT) or Cardiovascular Credentialing International in Vascular Ultrasound (RVS) within 6 months of hire.
