The Ophthalmology Assistant ensures an excellent customer experience while assisting the patient and the care team in an outpatient practice. This position is responsible for patient safety, assisting in minor procedures, rooming patients, and the safe operation of medical equipment. Handles and administers ophthalmic solutions according to regulatory standards and organizational policy and procedure. This position is responsible for the collection, communication and documentation of accurate patient information/data and maintaining medical records according to regulatory standards and organizational policies and procedures. Coordinates and facilitates requests for information, prescriptions and medications as directed by the provider. Addresses patient questions/concerns with information as directed by the provider. Provides scheduling support, authorization assistance, scanning or other medical practice assistance as directed.

This position would require availability to work three days in Naples and two days in Fort Myers each week.

  • Patient care related formal training required, i.e. CNA, EMT, MA. In lieu of patient care education, 2 years experience hands on patient care in ophthalmology healthcare setting required.

  • Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) certification preferred

  • At least 6 months recent experience in ophthalmology setting required. Medical terminology, basic knowledge of ocular disease, communication skills and proficiency with electronic health record required.
