Minimum to Midpoint Pay Rate:$38.48 - $50.01 / hour

Summary

Responsible for managing all activities of the Housekeeping and Transport Departments to maximum patient flow, ensure a clean environment, and safe / efficient patient transportation. Plans, develops, implements, and monitors budgets, goals, objectives and policies and procedures. Responsible for ensuring high levels of employee and customer satisfaction.

Develops operating budget for both departments and is responsible for implementing and attaining established financial standards. Evaluates on an ongoing basis and makes adjustments as necessary to meet fiscal goals.

Assists supervisors in monitoring performance and compliance to all Policies and Procedures and takes corrective action as appropriate to bring about an acceptable change in behavior or actions. Displays consistent and equitable application of all Policies and Procedures to all staff, documenting all action taken.

Participates in organizational leadership and collaborates with other leaders and staff to develop and provide exceptional care and services.

Develops Goals and Strategies that align with System Mission, Vision and Values

Implements Validation and Technological programs such as ATP and Software for Scheduling Development.

Identifies and implements strategies that support employee engagement.

Provides leadership and participation in recruitment, selection and retention of Departmental Personnel.

Handles duties of System Director in his or her absence.

Works with Infection Prevention and Infection Control Teams to implement safe practices and reduce HACs.

Manages Service Contracts and Service Levels with Established Vendors.

Interviews, hires, orients, coaches, evaluates and appropriately delegates assignments to staff and when necessary provided disciplinary action.

Regularly Inspects and evaluates the physical condition of assigned areas of hospital to ensure duties are performed in accordance with all governmental regulatory agencies and codes.

Prepares a variety of reports reflecting both EVS and Transport services activities such as dollar amounts of supplies used, bed throughput, HCAPHS and transport turn times. Knowledgeable of all SIR Rates for CDIFF and Communicable Diseases.

Investigates PRC Documents developing actions plans around systemic patterns of subpar performance keeping patient experience team abreast.

Identifies and participates in outside organizations that provide opportunities for continuous professional development for them self, subordinates and other departmental staff.

Develops, implements, and monitors performance improvement activities to include Patient Flow initiatives and tracks on-going performance and outcomes.

Manages and performs payroll/timekeeping functions for both EVS and Transport.

Develops and Implements effective strategies to improve M5 and M8 Metrics.

Develops and Implements effective strategies to improve HCAPHs and can navigate PRC.

Identifies training needs and obtains or develops training materials. Assures that staff are oriented and trained according to established procedures and that all mandatory education has been completed and documented.

Evaluates new products and/or equipment, makes effective purchasing decisions.

Maintains a constant state of readiness for the Environment of Care building tours and all regulatory agencies.

Develops and when necessary, makes changes in goals, objectives, policies and procedures for the departments.

Evaluates performance and competency. Recognizes, rewards, coaches and when necessary corrects department staff.

Manages the day-to-day operations of both departments to maximize patient flow, assure a clean / safe environment, and safe / efficient patient transportation to include: the direction of staff members, facility rounds, handling complaints, and is a resource for staff.

Responsible for employee and customer satisfaction, including physicians and patients.

Interacts with patients, visitors and other hospital staff to resolve housekeeping and/or transport related issues.

Participates in unit and system-wide committees, task forces or activities.

Stays abreast of latest developments, trends and techniques in area of responsibility through participating in conferences, workshops, seminars and professional literature. Shares knowledge gained with staff and assimilates into unit/department policies and procedures.

Develops and updates job descriptions and performance standards for all positions.

Serves as a liaison between the department and members of the healthcare team to elicit and solve potential or existing problems, as well as assure a safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff.
