Summary

Upon hire to a designated nursing unit, the CNA Trainee participates in a 6-week training program consisting of 30 classroom hours per week at a local, organization-approved technical college. This program prepares the trainee to become a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA).

Certified Nursing Assistants are responsible for delivering direct patient care by supporting components of the patient's plan of care. Duties include assisting with basic human needs, mental health and social support, comfort and safety measures, emergency procedures, personal hygiene, activities of daily living, nutrition, and elimination needs. CNAs may also have access to and transport non-controlled medications as directed.

Following successful completion of the training programas verified by the school transcriptand validation of all unit competencies, the CNA Trainee may function independently in the role and perform the duties outlined in this job description.

Educational Requirements
Preferred:

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent

• No experience required

• Certified Nursing Assistant license within 120 days of course completion

• BLS (American Heart Association / Basic Life Support) through 6 week course

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, basic computer skills, and customer service skills required. Knowledge of medical terminology
