Full Time position - dual role of Vascular and Echocardiographer.
Every 4th weekend and a rotational call schedule.
The Cardiovascular Sonographer Vascular II performs high-quality diagnostic vascular ultrasound procedures in both fixed and mobile settings, in accordance with departmental policies and procedures. This role requires advanced proficiency in vascular ultrasound testing and independent practice under established guidelines. The sonographer collaborates with providers to support accurate diagnoses, assists vascular surgeons with endovenous laser therapy (EVLT) procedures, and maintains effective communication with medical staff, patients, and external entities.
The ideal candidate demonstrates expertise across a full range of vascular exams, including but not limited to:
Carotid duplex
Venous and arterial duplex
Abdominal visceral duplex
Hemodialysis access duplex
Physiological vascular studies
Additional responsibilities include supporting patient care through safe handling and transport of non-narcotic medications as directed, contributing to departmental quality improvement initiatives, and participating in staff and student training. This role also emphasizes a strong commitment to patient-centered care, teamwork, and continuous professional development.
Able to perform high quality echocardiographic studies integrating all imaging modalities necessary to obtain all pertinent patient data for diagnostic purposes. A level II sonographer must be specialized in echocardiography with a valid registry and currently practicing independently according to departmental and IAC protocol. Must be proficient in echo exams to include but not limited to imaging enhancement agents, saline bubble, portable, stress echo studies, strain imaging, and assists with transesophageal echocardiographic procedures. Document completely and accurately patient data and echo exam information utilizing current information management system and follows appropriate billing for procedures. Be well organized and able to function independently. Assist in the orientation and training of all levels of trainees and students assigned to the Echocardiography Laboratory. Must be patient orientated and show critical thinking skills with appropriate communication. Demonstrate flexibility in learning all equipment.
Education
Graduate of an accredited ultrasound program or ARRT-approved program.
Experience
Minimum 2 years of vascular ultrasound experience preferred.
Certification/Licensure
BLS certification (American Heart Association Basic Life Support) required.
Registered in Vascular Technology (RVT) through ARDMS or Registered Vascular Specialist (RVS) through CCI required.
Skills & Competencies
Proficiency in vascular imaging protocols and diagnostic criteria.
Strong clinical judgment and ability to work independently.
Competent in assisting with interventional vascular procedures.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills for patient and staff interactions.
General computer and EMR proficiency.
