The Vascular Sonographer Level 2 is responsible for independently performing high-quality, comprehensive diagnostic vascular ultrasound procedures in both fixed and mobile settings, in accordance with departmental policies and professional standards. This role requires current vascular registry certification and advanced proficiency in vascular testing.
Key Responsibilities:
Independently performs a full range of vascular ultrasound exams, including but not limited to carotid, venous, arterial, abdominal visceral, hemodialysis duplex, and physiological studies.
Assists physicians and vascular surgeons with specialized procedures, including Endovenous Laser Therapy (EVLT).
Collaborates with providers and clinical staff to ensure accurate, timely diagnostic information that supports optimal patient care.
Acts as a clinical resource, communicating effectively with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals regarding exam findings and patient needs.
Maintains, operates, and troubleshoots ultrasound equipment with minimal assistance.
Participates in departmental quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives to ensure service excellence.
Provides orientation and mentorship to new team members and students, fostering a culture of learning and professional development.
Demonstrates strong customer service by maintaining a positive and compassionate demeanor with patients, families, and colleagues.
Utilizes general computer skills to complete required documentation and reporting.
May transport non-narcotic medications under the direction of licensed staff in accordance with policy.
Qualifications:
Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) or Registered Vascular Sonographer (RVS) required.
Demonstrated ability to work independently with advanced clinical judgment.
Strong communication, organizational, and critical-thinking skills.
Experience assisting with vascular interventional procedures preferred.
Education:Graduated from accredited or ARRT approved ultrasound program.
Experience:2 years vascular ultrasound experience preferred.
Certification:BLS (American Heart Association/Basic Life Support) required. Registered with American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers in Vascular Technology (RVT) or Cardiovascular Credentialing International in Vascular Ultrasound (RVS).
