The Director of Outpatient Facility Coding is responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining the medical record coding and reimbursement compliance plan. The Director is responsible for planning, organizing, directing, and controlling day-to-day operations of the Outpatient Facility coding department through direct report managers and supervisors. They will work to create consistency and efficiency in outpatient claims processing and data collection to optimize ICD 10, CPT and APC reimbursement and facilitate data quality for the Lee Health coding services. They will work closely with the leadership teams within the Central Business Office, Revenue Integrity, Health Information Management, Informatics, Compliance and the Quality Documentation Improvement department to facilitate optimal operational work designs as well as provide feedback to facilitate documentation educational needs where needed for adherence to documentation guidelines according to CMS regulations and the Lee Health Compliance Plan.
Education: Associates degree in health information management or related field required. 5 years of related experience may be considered in lieu of an associates degree. Bachelors in health information management or related field preferred.
Experience: A minimum of 5 years of facility coding experience required. A minimum of 3 years of supervisor or management experience required.
Certification: Minimum one coding certification required from AAPC or AHIMA.
License: N/A
Other: Project Management, HIM operational management, information systems and database. Five years of coding data quality related activities in inpatient acute care setting.
