The Trauma Quality Improvement (QI) Coordinator is responsible for the implementation of a clinical quality improvement program for the trauma population that is integrated into the hospital-wide program in accordance with the Florida Department of Health Office of Trauma HRS 150-9 Trauma Center Standards and the American College of Surgeons (ACS). The goals of the Trauma Quality and Performance Improvement Program are to monitor the process and outcome of patient care, ensure the quality and timely provision of such care, improve the knowledge and skill of the trauma care providers, and provide institutional structure and organization to promote quality improvement. The trauma programs monitoring and evaluation process shall show identification of process/outcome issues, corrective actions taken and loop closure, when applicable, for evaluations of the desired effects. The Trauma QI Coordinator, in collaboration with hospital and medical leadership, oversees the investigation and reporting of events as required by regulatory agencies. The Trauma QI Coordinator coordinates and oversees data collection and analysis, reporting, and improvement activities. The Trauma QI Coordinator fosters and maintains a collaborative relationship with external agencies, Medical Staff Quality services and hospital staff, as needed, related to quality, performance improvement and safety initiatives along with proactively educating leadership and medical staff regarding issues, guidelines and medical safety PI activities. The Trauma QI Coordinator collaborates with management and physician colleagues to achieve quality outcome and programmatic goals and assures compliance with standards, policies and requirements of governmental/regulatory agencies and professional organizations under the direct supervision of the Trauma Program Manager.
Education: Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing required.
Experience: Minimum 3 years experience in emergency/trauma and or surgical critical care preferred.
Certification: N/A
License: Current Licensure as an RN in the State of Florida.
Other: Ability to use judgment and discretion in dealing with confidential information; quality management experience and knowledge of all HIPPA regulations pertinent to this position. Proof of all CEU requirements submitted to supervisor, as requested, and at annual evaluation.
