Lee Health is seeking a Risk Coding Analyst to serve as an internal coding and documentation expert supporting Lee Physician Group. This role is responsible for performing professional service coding audits, providing provider education, and ensuring compliance with all applicable federal, state, local, and payer regulations. The Risk Coding Analyst delivers targeted coding and documentation education through audits, elbow-to-elbow provider support, presentations, and the development of educational tools and resources.
This position partners closely with providers, clinical practice managers, and coding teams to analyze trends, communicate findings, and drive continuous improvement in coding accuracy, compliance, and revenue integrity.
Act as a subject matter expert for professional service coding and documentation standards.
Perform and review retrospective and concurrent quality improvement coding audits in alignment with compliance and coding plans.
Provide actionable feedback, education, and training to providers and support staff based on audit findings.
Deliver elbow-to-elbow coding and documentation support through ad hoc phone consultations and onsite or virtual visits as needed.
Research, design, develop, and maintain coding and documentation tools to support compliance and optimize reimbursement.
Monitor and interpret changes from regulatory agencies, accreditation bodies, and internal policies, ensuring timely communication and education.
Apply adult learning principles to design and implement effective educational programs and materials.
Analyze data, identify trends, and communicate opportunities for performance improvement to leadership.
Investigate and escalate coding concerns to quality and leadership teams as appropriate.
Assist in developing and delivering annual updates related to diagnosis and procedure coding changes.
Participate in department and system committees as requested to support integration and collaboration.
Maintain ongoing professional development through continuing education, seminars, and Lee Health training opportunities.
Minimum of three (3) years of physician or professional service coding experience
Certified Professional Coder (CPC) certification required
Strong knowledge of coding guidelines, documentation requirements, and payer reporting policies
Excellent communication skills with the ability to educate and influence providers and stakeholders
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Bachelors degree
Experience providing provider education and conducting professional service coding audits
