Summary

The Trauma Registrar is primarily responsible for ensuring accurate data is abstracted, entered, and validated into the Trauma Registry at Lee Health Trauma Center. Key duties include concurrent identification of qualifying trauma patient population, data collection through chart abstraction, data entry into the Registry, and validation to ensure accurate data reporting. The Trauma Registrar is also responsible for meeting all reporting requirements to the Florida Department of Health (DOH) and the National Trauma Data Standard (NTDS). This position supports performance improvement, injury prevention, and research activities. The Trauma Registrar analyzes registry data, disseminates information, and preserves confidentiality and security of patient data stored in the registry files.

Requirements

Education:High School Diploma required. One year of formal training beyond high school, completion of HIM program preferred.

Experience:Minimum of two years of HIM and/or CPC/RHIT experience required. Experience with data abstraction/collection and data entry preferred.

Certification:Trauma Registrar Certification within two years from date of employment preferred.

License:N/A

Other:Knowledge of ICD 10 coding required. Knowledge of AIS coding is preferred. Knowledge of Medical Terminology and Anatomy. Computer knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel. Knowledge of EPIC preferred
