Minimum to Midpoint Pay Rate:$38.48 - $50.01 / hour
Responsible for operational supervision, coordination, and day-to-day oversight of offsite Anatomical Pathology laboratory operations and pathology support services that feed specimens, materials, information, and workflow into the Regional Laboratory.
Provides direct operational leadership for assigned offsite pathology locations and support personnel and serves as the primary operational resource for specimen intake, accessioning, preparation, handling, routing, transportation, tracking, send-out coordination, pathology support workflows, and communication between offsite locations and the Regional Laboratory.
Works closely with the Regional Anatomical Pathology Lab Manager, Histology Supervisor Technical, Immunohistochemistry Laboratory Supervisor Technical, pathologists, laboratory leadership, hospital departments, surgical services, couriers, and support staff to establish reliable and standardized pre-analytic and operational workflows across the regional Anatomical Pathology network.
Ensures specimens originating from hospitals, ambulatory surgery centers, physician practices, procedural areas, clinics, and other assigned locations are appropriately identified, documented, handled, transported, tracked, and delivered to the Regional Laboratory in accordance with established quality, turnaround-time, patient-safety, and regulatory standards.
Education: Associate's degree in Histotechnology, Biological Sciences, or a related field required. Bachelors or masters degree in healthcare administration, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
Experience: Minimum of three years of progressive laboratory, pathology, healthcare operations, or related experience required. Experience in Anatomical Pathology, surgical pathology, specimen processing, laboratory operations, accessioning, or multi-site healthcare operations strongly preferred. Previous lead or supervisory experience preferred.
Certification: Histotechnician (HT) or Scientist in Histotechnology (HTL) from the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) required.
License: Current State of Florida Department of Health laboratory supervisory license appropriate to the individuals discipline and assigned scope of responsibility required.
Other: Must demonstrate strong operational leadership, communication, organizational, customer service, and interpersonal skills. Requires strong analytical, workflow-management, problem-solving, and process-improvement skills with the ability to coordinate multiple locations, competing priorities, specimen workflows, and operational relationships.
