The Pediatric Cardiovascular Sonographer is a fully competent, experienced sonographer who independently performs high-quality, complex pediatric echocardiographic studies according to departmental guidelines and IAC protocols. This role requires advanced technical expertise, excellent patient care skills, and the ability to support education and training within the Echo Lab. This role will assist in the orientation and training of all levels of trainees and students assigned to the Echo Lab. Integrate all imaging modalities necessary to obtain complete and accurate diagnostic patient data. Demonstrate proficiency in echocardiographic procedures including, but not limited to 3D echo, Imaging enhancement agent, saline contrast (bubble studies), Stress echoes, and assistance with transesophageal echocardiography procedures. Provide excellent patient-centered care across all age groups, demonstrating compassion, professionalism, and effective communication with patients and families. Exhibit strong critical thinking skills and communicate pertinent findings appropriately. Demonstrate flexibility in learning and utilizing all echocardiography equipment, traveling to off-site locations, and rotating weekend call. Accurately and completely document patient data and echocardiographic findings using the current information management system. Ensure appropriate exam documentation and billing compliance for all procedures. Maintain strong organizational skills and the ability to function independently.
Education: Graduated from a cardiovascular technology program or diagnostic medical ultrasound program. Extensive experience may substitute training.
Experience: 6 months of clinical experience in cardiac ultrasound preferred
Certification/License:
Other: Basic knowledge of pediatric cardiac anatomy and physiology. Basic computer skills including Word, Excel, Power Point, and e-mail.
