The Hospitalist Access Specialist plays a key role in Lee Healths success. The Hospitalist Access Specialist performs two specific roles that are often the first point of contact for hospital admissions, hospitalist communication, and for establishing non-medical transport for patients at discharge. This role involves taking inbound calls from providers, physician offices, emergency rooms, and hospital staff. These interactions impact emergency room wait times, provider contact time and patient length of stay. Therefore, efficiency, productivity, and superior customer service are essential to success in this job role. - Responsible for accurately recording data entry, consolidation, and analysis of customer contacts within Lee Health regarding hospitalist assignments and non-medical transports.
- Collaborate and support interdisciplinary care teams by communicating updates and changes to Hospitalist staffing sharing daily physician rotation, Care Management team, and patient status with Transfer Center Transport RN and/or Transfer Center Access Specialist, as applicable, to ensure safe appropriate transfer of patients.
- Efficient communication to over 300 hospitalist providers regarding patient admissions and transfers.
- Efficient communication with all Lee Health staff and third-party transport agencies.
The person in this position must be comfortable in a fast-paced environment and possess the ability to prioritize, be extremely detailed-oriented, organized, a team player, flexible and have excellent communication skills. In addition, they will exhibit a strong desire and willingness to learn and grow with the department.
Education: High School or equivalent required. Post high school training or college preferred.
Experience: 1 year of customer service preferred.
Certification: None Required
License: None Required
Other: Medical terminology/experience desired. Knowledge and understanding of telephone etiquette including strong listening skills are essential. Excellent customer service, including verbal and written communication skills is required. Data entry skills and good computer skills are required including knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
