The Medical Social Worker (MSW) within the OB/GYN department at Lee Health provides compassionate, patient-centered psychosocial support to women and families throughout pregnancy, postpartum, and across the reproductive health continuum. This role addresses the social, emotional, and psychological factors that impact maternal and family health, working closely with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary care teams to ensure comprehensive, coordinated care.
The Social Worker delivers clinical coordination and therapeutic interventions through psychosocial assessments, counseling, crisis intervention, referral management, and interdisciplinary planning for high-risk obstetric and gynecologic populations. Responsibilities include supporting patients and families as they adjust to pregnancy-related complications, postpartum challenges, infertility, pregnancy loss, gynecologic diagnoses, and other life stressors, while linking them to community and behavioral health resources to promote safety, stability, and overall well-being.
This position also serves as an advocate and educator, sensitizing healthcare providers to the psychosocial aspects of womens health and maternal care, conducting screenings, and facilitating appropriate cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and community resource linkage. Opportunities may be available to provide field instruction for MSW students.

RequirementsEducation:
Masters Degree in Social Work required.
