The development communications strategist position is a cross-functional role that works closely with Foundation team members as well as team members across the Lee Health system and contracted partners to create and implement communication strategies that drive fundraising, donor engagement, and brand awareness. The role is responsible for managing communication strategies that inspire philanthropic giving and deepen donor loyalty at various phases of the donor lifecycle through creative storytelling, strategic multi-channel campaigns, and persuasive writing that conveys the direct impact of philanthropy on patient care.
Education: Bachelors degree in marketing, Public Relations, Business Administration or a related field required.
Experience: Minimum of 4 years of experience in fundraising communications required with a proven ability to write and design compelling donor communications for various channels and stages of the donor life cycle. Healthcare philanthropy experience preferred. Must possess strong initiative and project management experience.
Certification: Accreditation in Public Relations (APR) Preferred.

Healthcare Knowledge: Familiarity with translating medical terminology into accessible, inspiring layperson language.
Fundraising Familiarity: Deep understanding of the donor lifecycle, stewardship principles, and fundraising compliance (including HIPAA regulations regarding patient privacy).
Technical Skills: High computer competency and knowledge of traditional and digital marketing, content marketing, public relations and social media marketing are required.
Visual Communications and Graphic Design: High degree of creativity, artistic ability, attention to detail and technical accuracy. Proficiency in current standard graphic design software is required (Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat).
Exceptional Verbal and Writing Skills: Strategic, creative and persuasive writing with the ability to communicate in the brand voice and appropriate tones for various channels and audiences.
Empathy & Discretion: High emotional intelligence required when interviewing patients and families going through and/ or healing from health challenges.
Project Management: High level of organization and detail oriented with proven ability to handle multiple deadlines, coordinate with marketing partners and vendors and manage internal approval processes.
