Summary

ARecovery Peer Specialist (RPS)supports people as they work toward recovery from mental health or substance use challenges. The RPS uses their own recovery experience and training to provide support, encouragement, and guidance. They help clients build skills, confidence, and healthy relationships while respecting each persons unique recovery journey.
What Youll Do
- Advocatefor individuals and help ensure their voice, choices, goals, and preferences remain at the center of their recovery.
- Mentor and encourageindividuals by appropriately sharing lived experience to provide hope, connection, and motivation.
- Providerecovery-oriented supportthat promotes independence, self-advocacy, wellness, and personal growth.
- Help individuals developlife skills, positive relationships, and community connectionsthat support long-term recovery.
- Collaborate with the care team while maintaining appropriateprofessional boundaries, confidentiality, and respect.
- Apply CRPS training and lived experience to provide support that reflects each individual's stage of recovery.
Requirements
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
Experience
- Lived experience in recovery and a passion for supporting others.
- Ability to demonstrate competency inadvocacy, mentoring, recovery support, and professional responsibility.
Licensure
- Valid Florida drivers license required.
Certification
- BLS and First Aid Certification required within 90 days of hire.
- Must be eligible for Florida Certified Recovery Peer Specialist (CRPS) Provisional Certification.
- CRPS certification required within one year of hire. (Lee Health provides training and support to help eligible employees obtain CRPS certification within their first year.)
Additional Requirements
- Must pass required background and fingerprinting checks.
