Summary

The Controller Acute Care is responsible for managing financial operations, ensuring accuracy and efficiency of the month-end close accounting process, and serving as a liaison between the health systems corporate team and its assigned entity, such as hospitals, clinics, or shared services. The role safeguards financial integrity, ensures timely and accurate reporting, leads audits and compliance, and serves as a key partner to leadership for collaboration around budgeting, operational efficiency, and staff leadership to support strategic goals. This is accomplished through excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey information clearly and effectively across diverse audiences, and the ability to understand complex processes and proactively analyze data to identify trends, insights, and opportunities for improvement.

Requirements

Education: Bachelors degree from an accredited college/university required; Bachelors in Accounting/Finance program of study preferred. Masters degree or CPA preferred.

Experience: Minimum of 7 years of progressive accounting/finance experience, including at least 5 years experience in a hospital or healthcare organization required. Minimum of 3 years in a supervisory role required.

License: N/A

Other: Strong knowledge of GAAP, healthcare finance, and internal controls. Demonstrated ability to lead teams, manage complex projects and deliver results in a fast-paced healthcare environment. Proficiency with budgeting tools and advanced Excel functionality is a plus. Ability to work effectively with executive leadership teams and present complex financial information clearly. Knowledge of hospital EHR and ERP systems (e.g., Epic, UKG, Infor FSM, Infor GHR or similar). Strong analytical skills, problem-solving capabilities, and experience with data-driven decision making. Ability to manage multiple competing priorities and tight deadlines in a complex, multi-site environment. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
