This opportunity is ideal for individuals who are currently enrolled in or have completed an advanced certificate, associate degree, bachelor's degree, or higher from an accredited institution, or who have graduated within the past year.

As a Student Intern, you'll gain exposure to one of the region's largest healthcare systems while developing customer service, communication, and healthcare operations experience that can help prepare you for future career opportunities.

Position Overview

As a member of the Lee Physician Group Contact Center team, you will:

  • Deliver exceptional customer service to patients over the phone.
  • Assist with scheduling appointments across multiple physician practices.
  • Accurately document patient information while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Navigate multiple computer applications in a fast-paced environment.
  • Communicate professionally with patients, providers, and internal departments.
  • Build valuable experience within a nationally recognized healthcare organization.

Required Training

Training is mandatory before transitioning into the PRN schedule.

New hires must be available to attend:

MondayFriday
8:00 AM 4:30 PM
Duration: 4 consecutive weeks

Full attendance during training is required.

PRN Schedule

Following successful completion of training, interns will transition to a PRN (as-needed) schedule:

  • MondayWednesday
  • 8:00 AM 2:00 PM
  • Hours are based on department needs.
  • PRN positions are on-call/as needed and do not guarantee weekly hours.
  • PRN positions are not benefit eligible.

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must meet one of the following:

  • Currently pursuing an advanced certificate, associate degree, bachelor's degree, or higher from an accredited institution; or
  • Graduated from an accredited institution within the last year.

Additional qualifications include:

  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Basic computer proficiency.
  • Professional phone etiquette.
  • Ability to learn multiple software systems.

What to Expect During the Interview Process

Our hiring process is designed to identify candidates who will thrive in our fast-paced Contact Center environment.

Step 1 WebEx Interview

  • Meet virtually with a recruiter to discuss your background, availability, and interest in the role.

Step 2 Typing Assessment

  • If selected to move forward, you will be scheduled for an onsite typing assessment at the Orion Building Recruitment Office.
  • Candidates must achieve 30 words per minute (WPM) or higher to continue in the hiring process.

Step 3 Leadership Interview

  • Candidates who successfully pass the typing assessment will interview directly with the Lee Physician Group Contact Center Leadership Team.

The Student Intern will assist department with general office duties, work on department specific projects/events/communications based on field of study (HR, IT, Accounting, Marketing, et al). Additionally, the Student Intern shall assist and work with project teams and internal committees as determined and directed by the Department Manager. This role gives students an opportunity to experience, network and navigate within the dynamic healthcare industry while adding value to current teams and processes.

Requirements

Education:High School diploma or GED required. Must be pursuing or have completed an advanced certificate, associate degree, bachelors degree, or higher from an accredited institution, or have graduated within the last year.

Experience:Experience with complex related projects, either academic or professional preferred, Community/customer service focus. Motivated to embrace a culture of safety, quality, service, compassion, and teamwork. (Typically, 10 12 weeks full-time temporary assignment.)

Other:Strong communication, presentation, organizational, computer and analytical skills. Must demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively as a team member and ability to respond creatively to a rapidly changing environment required. Computer skills required.
