The ultrasound technologist is responsible for providing ultrasound services to the physicians, nurse-midwives and ARNP's within Lee Physician Group. The sonographer performs scans at multiple sites for obstetric, gynecologic and infertility patients. The individual in this position is responsible for performing sonographic exams and assisting in ultrasound-guided office procedures via transabdominal and transvaginal instrumentation. The ultrasound technologist analyzes sonograms, synthesizes sonographic information and medical history, and communicates sonographer's impression via written reports to the appropriate physician. The ultrasound technologists performs under the general supervision of a physician and in accordance with state and federal regulations, AIUM guidelines and Lee Memorial Health System/Lee Physician Group policies and procedures. The individual in this position is responsible for maintaining a safe environment for patients and staff including, but not limited to infection control and equipment safety and participates in maintenance of AIUM laboratory accreditation. The scope of care may be broadened to other procedures, acts and processes permitted by law for which the individual has received education, clinical experience and demonstrates competency. The ultrasound technologist in this position reports to the practice office manager. This position is considered to be non-exempt.
