Epic ECSA Technical Application Engineer

The Technical Application Engineer is responsible for engineering, troubleshooting, tuning, managing and providing day to day backend operational support for EPIC client systems, and other business and clinical application environments. Researches and provides support for patching and upgrading applications for the business. Maintains system documentation. Provides support for administrator and service accounts. Plans, coordinates, tests and communicates changes, maintenance, and upgrade schedules with IS and customers, ensuring business operations will operate correctly. Provides technical assistance to various application teams and customers throughout the organization. Acts as the technical liaison between the applications and the technical teams including Network, Server Engineering, Storage Engineering, and Unix Systems. Participant in on-call rotation as required.

Additional Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

  • Provides support and solutions to the EPIC environment. Installs, configures, maintains, monitors, troubleshoots, optimizes and upgrades all Windows-based Epic applications and services such as Hyperspace Web, Epic Print Service, BLOB, Interconnect, MyChart, System Pulse, Kuiper, Store-Forward, BCA-PC, BCA-Web, Haiku, Canto, Care Everywhere, EpicCare Link. Provides support to additional business and clinical applications.
  • Set up administrator and service accounts. Maintain current knowledge of relevant technologies and business processes, review the governing regulations to ensure proper program support, enable best practices, and process automation.
  • Train application users; show the value of the tool to those groups not currently using it and assist in the transition. Execute process and software continuous improvement activities. Perform analytical work supporting business objectives at varying levels of complexity. Recommend process improvements and enhancements of application usage; assist with internal and external system performance benchmarking.

Educational Requirements

Degree/Diploma ObtainedProgram of StudyRequired/

A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with a concentration in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent relevant work experience required

Experience Requirements

Four (4) years of progressively responsible IT work experience and administration with a focus in Microsoft Windows Server and Desktop operating systems, RedHat, and the applications environments they provide. Extensive knowledge of Microsoft and Redhat operating systems and associated IIS support/Web Server, Scripting, and Database facilities. Detailed experience with the EPIC Client Services framework and application installation, support, and maintenance.
