The CDI Educator assists the CDI team in meeting revenue, quality and productivity goals and objectives by identifying opportunities for continuous quality improvement. Communicates and participates in local and regional operational and strategic planning. Actively involved in mentoring and training all functions and services related to hospital medical coding, medical documentation, and physician queries, abstracting and data collection. Monitors CDI reviews and abstracting quality by conducting and/or coordinating ongoing audits to ensure CDI workflow meets quality performance improvement standards are maintained, achieved and improved. Plans and coordinates daily work for CDI participating in on the Job Training (OJT) Program. Works with CDI Team Leads and Director of CDI to develop, implement, evaluate and improve CDI policies and procedures and department operations. Provides ongoing CDI education and training of staff. Tracks and reports progress of CDI trainees at each phase of OJT Program. Assists Director of CDI in preparing statistical analysis and/or reports. Ensures compliance with all applicable federal, state and local regulations, as well as with institutional/organizational standards, practices, policies and procedures. Strong research skills including knowledge of automated analysis tools and on line research tools required to resolve complex coding/systems issues. Other duties as assigned. Utilizes Epic’s electronic health record and 3M 360 CDI and Reimbursement System and 3M encoder.

Note: Travel between Lee Health Facilities may be required periodically.

Requirements:

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Education:
- RN with BSN or Bachelors in related field required

Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in Clinical Documentation Improvement required
- Minimum 5 years of acute critical care clinical experience required
- NICU, PICU, Pediatric knowledge preferred.
- Florida RN License preferred, selected candidate must obtain FL license
- CCDIS certification preferred

Training: ICD 10 training, preferred ICD 10 train the trainer certification License: Florida RN license, CCDS and/or CCS, CDIP Other: Strong interpersonal, communication (verbal, non-verbal and listening).
